ben tanzer is…
…one of the nicer guys you could meet, and that might not strike you as terribly punk, but being nice is actually one of the punkest things you can do. And he’s reading at the February 11 Neutron Bomb.
Here’s Ben’s story “Smiling to Himself” on the Atticus Books site.
We are pleased to announce that Patty McNair will be reading at the 12/17 Neutron Bomb (7-9pm Sat. at Cal’s). Patty is full-time grad faculty in Columbia College Chicago’s Fiction Writing department. Read our homey Leah Tallon’s review of Patty’s new book, “The Temple of Air,” on The Nervous Breakdown.

this is punk rock. we need it short/lord/fast. readers get 8 minutes, bands get 25. we don’t pay because money isn’t punk. if you’d still like to participate, check this out:
email us a brief (<2000 words) sample of your writing, attached as a word doc or pasted into the body of an email.
if there’s a way we can check out an audio or video recording of you reading, please include that as a link or mp3.
tell us something interesting about you. do you go to school somewhere? play in a band? do a zine? publish ill novels? work a crazy job?
we are always looking for storytellers. do you have the gift of gab? does one of your friends? tell us, even if you don’t have anything written down or recorded.
we need punk bands for these events. though we understand that punk is more of a spirit than a sound, we want bands whose sound is immediately recognizable as some permutation of punk. so, no mandolins, unless you’re covering ‘time to die.’
email us a couple mp3s or a download/stream link.
